Safari Beta
Once again we see a post addressing Apple's Safari for Windows beta and the bugs found in it. I'm not really understanding this... Web Browsers are prone to vulnerabilities... everyone knows that... Safari for Windows is a Beta everyone knows that. Beta's are known to contain bugs, the entire idea is that the bugs get ironed out in the beta stage so that a final release ships "relatively" bug free.
So my question... Who really cares that Apple isn't rushing and fixing every reported bug in Safari... It's a beta, as long as they are fixed by the official release that's all that should matter. This is getting childish.

It’s weird that Apple did this. They had to know what was going to happen, despite mgmt likely needing this for some iphone or itunes roll-out this summer. Then again, outside of our circles, not many people really give a rip…
With this whole “persistent beta” thing going on these days (led by Google), I wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple keep Safari for Windows “beta” for 5 years as their excuse. :\

I can’t speak for Juha, but I think the main reason Safari is getting all this heat is Apple’s claims that Safari is unbreakable. Here’s a quote from the Safari web site:
“Apple engineers designed Safari to be secure from day one.”
When you make a claim like that, you need to back it up - Apple still has to prove its approach to security is getting better and this release of Safari did not help their security record.
BTW, at least one of the researchers that found a security hole said he was actively looking for bugs because of that ’secure from day one’ claim.
