A Quick Thank You!

September 3rd, 2006 No comments

So I'd like to thank everybody... My goal this month was 3000 unique views. ComputerDefense.org had almost 3600 unique views over the month. The real shock however was SpamMailBag.com, which only launched August 25th but still managed 1500+ unique views.

I've been sitting on CDTV for so long that I'm going to attempt to revive the idea this month. I'm also going to launch two new sites in the ComputerDefense family (which may end up just tying into this site): pythongod.com and securityne.ws.

My goal is to hit 5000 unique visitors by the end of September for ComputerDefense.org and a total of 7500 across all the CDO sites.

Thanks again.

Peace,
HT

Site Update – Hits, IRC, and Nothingness

June 7th, 2006 No comments

So, I'm quite pleased to announce that even though I've been lazy in my posting this site has had over 500 visits since the start of June... because of this I've decided to up the ante and attempt to post more often and more informatively, starting this Weekend... in the mean time... I've decided that since everyone else has an IRC Channel I may as well also, I've created #ComputerDefense on FreeNode (irc.freenode.net). Feel free to stop by and visit... I'll be idling there so you may be able to catch me...

Peace,
HT

New Server

May 28th, 2006 No comments

Hey Hey,

We've made a move.... I was using hostprince, and I was even reselling their services to a few friends... It wasn't bad at first... they have 0-technical knowledge, but I could live with that but it eventually became ridiculous... I had a simple wget script running and they told me it was crashing their services... this page was written in perl and ran every 5 minutes to check on a text file... if you haven't guessed it was for CDVT (which I haven't forgotten about)... Anyways I've moved servers and picked up a new shell account, between the two we should be good to get CDVT up and running in the next month or so... Anyways.. enjoy the new server... I should be posting more now that the site will be more reliable..

Peace,
HT

Authors Wanted, GMail Contacted

February 14th, 2006 No comments

Hey Hey,

So as I've mentioned before, I'm looking for site authors. Included is author access to this forum... Post your programs or source code or blog about random IT events... Possible association with the CDVT software if you so desire (I've gotten my responses back by the way... A beta should be up tomorrow night)... and a computerdefense.org email address.

If you're interested, send me an email ht [at] computerdefense.org

This is news related, but also site related so it can go here.. Google is now offering to host your domains mail, similar to what Microsoft is doing... on gmail accounts (2GB, the Google Search Engine)... a great concept... I've contacted them for the beta and asked if we could put google.computerdefense.org on (as well as aoaddicts.net). If I get a positive, I will be offering google.computerdefense.org (possibly in the end reader.computerdefense.org or user.computerdefense.org) email addresses to all ComputerDefense.org members. It might be kinda cool.

Peace,
HT

Computer Defense Launch!

February 6th, 2006 No comments

Hey Hey,

I've finally decided what to do with this site and that's turn it into a community blog. I know, blogs are everywhere, my goal is to draw on the experienced members of forums I visit, current and former co-workers, friends and anyone else who is interested. I welcome everyone to register and comment, and those interested to contact me to contribute, edit, or admin this. While it will remain a blog, a forum may grow from it, or this may take on the look of a forum, it's hard to say... In the mean time enjoy and learn.

Peace,
HT
